ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The Likabali Students Union (LSU) has strongly condemned the allegations leveled against MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary Transport & Supply, Jomde Kena by Likabali Unemployed Youth Association (LUYA).
Reacting to the press statement of LUYA published in this daily on Aug 4, the Union said Association’s demand for removal of Kena alleging his involvement in land grabbing and corruption has no justification. The land has been allotted to Kena after fulfilling all the formalities, it said. Regarding a case in Basar court against Kena on alleged corruption, the Union said it is the law to decide over the allegation.

ITANAGAR, Aug 4: A delegation of Itanagar Traffic Warden (ITW) today met Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and placed their two point memorandum. As a symbolic gesture, the traffic wardens went on a foot march from IG Park to CM Bungalow. The demands of the wardens include immediate regularisation of job and salary hike. Chief Minister reportedly assured to look into their demands and patiently heard their grievances. “The Chief Minister appreciated our work and said he will personally take up the matter. Medical allowance for Pensioners enhanced
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The state Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki last evening, has approved the enhancement of fixed medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 500 in respect of pensioners and family pensioners of the state government. The enhancement comes into effect from 1st December 2014. The move is expected to boost the morale of the pensioners and their family members as well as serving state government employees.
The proposed enhancement has been long pending and was brought to the notice of the Cabinet as a welfare measure for hundreds of state government employees, who have retired after serving in the government for their whole life.

ITANAGAR, Aug 4: ICDS Project, Itanagar organised an informative cum awareness programme on breast feeding as part of the World Brest Feeding Week celebration at Nitivihar Angawadi centre, here today.
The importance of breast feeding as well as adverse effect of feeding artificial substitute milk to children was explained in detail to the attending mothers in the programme.

Public alleges poor health service at Wakro CHC
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: Alleging poor health service delivery at Wakro Community Health Centre (CHC) run by NGO Pravas Janhit Seva Sansthan, the panchayat leaders of Wakro, on behalf of the public, have urged the Health Minister to terminate the agreement with NGO to run the CHC and hand it over to the State Government.

Helicopter with three people goes missing in Tirap
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: A Pawan Hans Dauphin Vt-
Department of Civil Aviation stated that Air Traffic Control (ATC) Chabua contacted the pilot of the helicopter, five minutes after departure when the pilot is reported to have informed that they were flying towards Longding. However it soon lost contact with ATC.
The normal flying time between Khonsa and Longding is 15 minutes.
Khonsa was foggy and drizzling when the chopper took off, the SP Tirap Jasmeet Singh IPS said when contacted by this daily. At around 11.15 AM when the chopper did not land at its destination, SP Tirap office was contacted after which all police stations were alerted to look out for the chopper with a hope that it might had landed somewhere in view of bad weather.

Today four Indian Air force and Pawan Hans’s choppers were pressed into rescue operation. Changlang, Longding and Dibrugarh district administrations are in touch for the rescue operation, said an official source.
Army and Air force along with state police will resume search and rescue operation on Wednesday, Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki convened an emergency high level meeting with Home Minister, Civil Aviation Minister, Chief Secretary, DGP and legislators of Tirap, Changlang and Longding.
Chief Minister said that search and rescue operations to track the missing chopper have been intensified. The District Administration, Police, all panchayat leaders and local villagers of the nearby villages have been sounded for extending support to the search operation. The Chief Minister has also sought help from Government of India, while the Indian Air Force and Indian Army have been requested to help the state in locating the missing chopper.

ITANAGAR, Aug 4: Several illegal structures were damaged and encroachers evicted from the permanent state assembly road by the police personnel on the order of Capital Complex Chief Estate Officer Talo Potom here today.
The CEO had cautioned against encroachment in public places and said that violators will be booked under relevant sections of law. Carrying out earth cutting in and around the Capital Complex will henceforth require permission from the office of the Chief Estate Officer in the form of NOC as a measure to control encroachment and prevention of manmade disaster, an order from the CEO informed.
It also said that the all allotments in the Capital region are leased allotments and the government is the sole owner of the land including private allotted land. Therefore, all shall obtain necessary permission for earth cutting and construction activities in the Capital Complex. They should keep copy of such permission/NOC in the site of the construction for the inspection of official of the CEO failing which necessary action shall be initiated as deemed fit on the spot itself.
The order further informed that measurement of unauthorized occupation and damage of public premises under section 10 of Arunachal Pradesh Public Premises Act 2003 has been initiated in the Capital Complex by the CEO.

of India (BAI) has expressed its inability to hold the Sub-
BAI has taken the decision based on unfavourable report submitted by its two officials, who in June last inspected indoor facilities available for badminton in Itanagar.
As per the report, BAI said, the existing infrastructure did not fulfill the mandatory requirements for holding such national level championships. "There are only two badminton halls each with two courts. The gallery for spectators and parents is very small and is situated in one side of the hall," the reports stated.
"Further, the basic requirements like washrooms and change rooms are not enough and not up to the mark. The warm up area is also very small. Hence, it will not be wise to hold the championship at Itanagar with the existing facilities," the report said.
"In view of their unfavourable report, it is not possible to hold the tournament with the existing infrastructure, BAI President Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta said in his letter to Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) Secretary Bamang Tago.
It suggested ASBA to develop international level facilities for badminton tournaments.
"Once the infrastructure is developed, we will surely go for the bigger tournament," the BAI President assured.
He suggested ASBA to hold ranking tournaments first instead of going for the national level tournament.
When contacted, ASBA Secretary Bamang Tago said that the news has come as setback for badminton in Arunachal Pradesh definitely. But we are optimistic that we will be able to hold the championships within the next few years.
He said all necessary infrastructure and allied facilities required for holding such national championships would be come up in the state very soon as the Chief Minister has kept Rs.10 crore in the budget for the purpose.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Nabam Tuki personally met the BAI President in New Delhi and had proposed for holding the Championship in Arunachal. BAI, as a follow up action, had deputed its two officials to inspect facilities available for badminton in Itanagar in June last.

The signing of peace treaty between government of India and Naga rebel group NSCN (IM) has been welcomed with caution by the people of north east region. Yesterday NSCN (IM) leader T Muivah and centre’s interlocutor in Naga peace talk RN Ravi signed the agreement at New Delhi in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and host of Naga leaders. The governments of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur have all welcomed the agreement. Naga leaders of Manipur has expressed happiness over the historic agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and the Centre and said it would usher peace and progress in the region.
The full details of deal has been not been made officials till now but it is widely believed that NSCN has not insisted on inclusion of all Naga inhabited area under its greater Nagalim demand. Majority of people are waiting for the full details to be made public before making any comment. Keeping aside such concern, this deal will give lot of hope to the people of NE region. Naga insurgency has badly affected developmental aspect of states like Manipur, Assam and Arunachal which shares boundary with Nagaland. If indeed this agreement brings peace in Nagaland then it will have positive impact on whole region. However by keeping NSCN (K) out of peace agreement union government has taken a big risk. There is every possibility that NSCN (K) may try to disrupt the peace process by unleashing fresh violence. Union government should start talking to other Naga rebel group including likes of NSCN (K) if it is really serious about bringing long lasting peace in the region.

Rectify the anomaly
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to ventilate my grievances to the authorities concerned that unemployment in our State of Arunachal Pradesh is increasing at a worrying rate. In this industrially backward region, government jobs are the only hope for poor students to make their career. However, government jobs are in great scarce. The situation is more discouraging for students who have graduated in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, IT engineering and many such other fields. There are hardly any Government posts in these fields. Some students do not even get a single chance to appear in any interview in their respective field. Gradually, the students cross their Upper Age Limit that too without facing even a single interview in their respective fields.
In such pitiable condition, our only hope is the Combined Competitive Examination conducted by Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). But here too, the problem does not end at all. Delays, Controversies etc in conduction of the competitive examination play havoc on the minimum opportunity that we have, as these delays reduces our chance to appear in these examinations due to Upper Age Limit . The recent conduction of APPSCCE is an example which is taking more than three years for its completion. This trend is very discouraging for students who have minimum career opportunities. The Upper Age Criteria coupled and affected by delays leave us with least possible scope.
Hence, I would like to request the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission to follow and implement the UPSC norm. The UPSC has fixed the Upper Age Limit for ST/SC as thirty seven (37) years for appearing in its Combined Competitive examination, whereas the APPSC has fixed it as thirty three (33) years. Why this anomaly has not been rectified by the Commission so far? The immediate attention and rectification in this direction by the concerned authority may widen the scope of students and graduates who has minimum opportunity.

Who is responsible for rising crime?
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to share my opinion regarding the rapid increasing crime rate at Koloriang, the district HQ of Kurung Kumey, with the recent incident of rape of 6 years old minor girl by an immigrant worker.
The news of the rape of underage girl shock the entire state but our political leaders of the district are still silent on the issue of rising crime rate.
But during the election these political leaders forgets the sentiments and security of indigenous peoples/voters by bringing thousands of bogus voters/immigrants voters for enrolment in electoral roll just to be elected and to acquire the power.
Earlier several NGO/associations objected to bogus enrolment issue and it was published several times in the media.
There were lots of hue and cry on sudden increase of voters and several memorandums were also placed to the concern authority.
So my question to the political leaders of concern area is who are these illegal immigrants? Who is responsible for bringing them to Koloriang as most of them do not possess ILP (inner line permit) or proper documents of their identity proof?
Who shall take responsibility for the security of local citizens in the coming days?

Dear Editor,
This is regarding “CC 4-
It is a good initiative towards capital roadways as we have been facing lots of roads blocks not only in capital complex but in the whole Arunachal especially in summer seasons due to landslides in most of the areas.
A good example is near petrol pump Itnagar via Naharlagun road which is still in deteriorating conditions.
No doubt there are many places in Arunachal facing the same kind of situations because of transportation problems.
In summer season we can’t even come to our Capital city because of landslides in many places in the state. And one funny thing is that when villager first time come to Itanagar, he/she first notice the road and finds no difference between the capital and their town/village roads!
Good road not only prevents us from disasters but also provides more convenient, quicker transportation as well as provides significant advantages to the peoples of the state as well as tourists.
Good roads also strengthen and stabilise the state economy systems.
Furthermore, it is good to hear that our capital road is going to be Cement Concrete (CC) 4 lane road. I hope that the works shall progress soon.

Maro village is an example. At this time of underdevelopment, provision of such LPC to some self conceited people invites criticism from all section. Therefore, we urge department concerned to stop such process immediately failing which common people will start protest.
